She woke up choking on it
the seed still stuck in her throat
hungover from drugged sleep
and a dream of seven mad kings.
An apple martini, a song beat cue,
everything leading to a man.
She found her dress on the floor
and her purse missing $20
but the keys intact.
ha. whew….and a promise never to drink that much again…smiles…good thing she only lost 20 bucks…ha…
hahah….much different than the sleeping beauty waking…oy… beware of apple martini…smiles
Tee hee, I doubt this version will inspire a Disney movie!! But it made ME smile.
Oh wow, a very modern take on a not so happy not so fairy tale ending. Much more believable though sadly, nicely done.
Sorry I missed this new Disney version of ” Snow White”:)
Just no trusting those seven little men.
Thanks for all the comments! Yeah, not likely to be made into a cartoon soon…
Definitely got a chuckle on your retake of a classic, apple martini’s sound very dangerous and some lessons cost more than others, sounds like she got off easy!!
this is excellent. “a dream of seven mad kings” — very cool.
I think this was a great reminder of what not to do on a friday evening…
very clever twist on the story…much more interesting than the original, though definitely at the blue end of the spectrum.
I mistakenly put this on the dverse link, so it’s an older poem now, but I’ve been waiting for quite some time for someone to notice how blue this particular Snow White is… 🙂
Too many variations of this in reality, I fear. You have a great ability to write economically. I’m so glad you posted both…which is fine except for Tuesday Open Link Night.
Great twist on the original.. she’s a lucky girl that someone can tell her tale. 🙂
